Ships Cover for HMS Cobra (1899), HMS Eden (1903), HMS Velox (1902) and HMS Viper (1899)

Ships Cover for the early turbine destroyers HMS Cobra (1899), HMS Eden (1903), HMS Velox (1902) and HMS Viper (1899). The documents mainly comprise extensive correspondence between the Admiralty and the contractors, particularly Parsons, details of the vessels equipment, machinery and fittings (including paintwork), detailed reports of steam, manoeuvring and equipment trials and stability calculations. The earliest papers date from March 1898 with the decision to order the Cobra, and the last from July 1910, by which time only Eden remained in frontline service; Viper and Cobra having been lost and Velox relegated to secondary duties.
