The Co-Cathedral of Our Lady of Assumption is the large domed-roof building to the left of centre. Saint Pierre was almost totally destroyed when the Mount Pelee volcano erupted on 8 May 1902. The cathedral was rebuilt using old stones with the addition of volcanic rocks and bricks and was completed in 1908.'
