The photographer is to seaward looking north-north-east showing the commercial premises on the waterfront and beyond them is the steeple of St. Louis Cathedral. The domed roof on the right belongs to the Schoelcher Library completed in 1893. Among the commercial establishments on the waterfront are the premises of A. Sainte Cadiz & Co, Rene Dottrell and Saint James.
