The outskirts of the town of Saint Pierre, Martinique. The photographer is pn board a passenger cruise ship looking north-east-by-north showing the northern outskirts of the town. A small clipper bowed steamer is anchored off the town. Saint Pierre was almost totally destroyed when the Mount Pelee volcano erupted on 8 May 1902 and the cloud covered volcano is in the left background.
