Pedro Miguel Locks on the Panama Canal. The photographer is on board a ship in the lower chamber from the west side of the locks looking forward showing the gates opening to permit passage into Miraflores Lake. The control tower in between the west and east locks is on the left of the picture and a passenger vessel is heading south in the lake. Miraflores Locks are in the distance. The negative is incorrectly captioned Gatun Locks.
