The Blue Funnel cargo liner Phemius (1921) in Gatun Locks on the Panama Canal.
The Blue Funnel cargo liner Phemius (1921) in the Gatun Locks on the Panama Canal. The photographer is looking north from the bottom of the incline abreast the upper chamber of the west lock showing a port bow view of the ship, taken from fine off the bow, as she waits for the lock gates at the south end on the centre chamber to fully open before she moves into the upper chamber. A large number of spectators are on both side of the lock and the Gatun lighthouse is in the centre background.
