The photographer is looking west-by-north from high ground to the east showing an unidentified cable ship on the right, seen from off the port bow, moored bow-on to the shore. Her hull paintwork is in poor condition and she may be laid up. To her left is the cable ship Cable Enterprise (1924) alongside a wharf and she is seen from off her starboard bow. A number of sailing vessels are alongside the other wharves. The town is on the left.
