Looking over town rooftops to the harbour and outer islands at Stavanger, Norway. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Orient Line cruise ship Orford (1928) which is seen from ahead of her port beam at anchor in the right background. He is looking north-east and many of the waterfront buildings are commercial. A large building is on the end of the island of Grasholmen on the right and an iron framed crane is on a small wharf at the west end of the island of Solyst.
