Four lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) during a regatta in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway.
Four of the ship's lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) in Sognefjord off Balholm, Norway. The photographer is on board the Orion looking at three manual lifeboats being taken in tow by a motor lifeboat at the end of a race. The boats are manned by members of the ship's crew and the occupants are not wearing life jackets. Competitive rowing regattas were commonplace in cruise ships at boating ports and other sheltered moorings. Negatives numbers P84445 to P84462 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
