A distant port side view, taken from abaft the beam, of an unidentified submarine under way in the Baltic.
A distant port side view, taken from abaft the beam, of an unidentified submarine under way in the Baltic Sea. Some of her crew are on the casing abaft the conning tower. The photographer is on board a cruise ship, possibly an Orient Line ship, and she has clinker built lifeboats paired under the davits at the aft end of the port side of the promenade deck. The submarine is on a reciprocal course. The negative is captioned "German submarine in the Baltic" but the nationality of the boat cannot be proven.
