A slightly distant port near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the staysail barge Ardwina (1909) under sail at the start of a barge match in the Thames Estuary. She has a white staysail and the word MANDY is on her red mainsail. In the right background are the staysail barge Repertor (1924), with all white sails and a Crowned Head logo on her topsail, the staysail barge Oak (1881) with a white staysail and the Duradon logo on her topsail, and the staysail barge Victor (1895), with a blue and white striped staysail and the Kentish Life logo on her topsail.
