Apprentice Horace Hayward chipping the anchor on the port bow of the Bank Line general cargo ship Inverbank (1924) at Jacksonville, Florida. He is sitting on the bottom rung of a ladder suspended over the bow. A vertical format negative. The photographer, Henry Bird, was an apprentice on board the Inverbank (1924) which was at Jacksonville to complete loading a cargo of scrap iron for delivery to the steel works at Kamaishi, Japan.
