The Carciotti Palace on the Riva Tre Novembre at Trieste, Italy. The photographer is looking south-south-east across the entrance to the Grand Canal. The main façade is characterised by an avant-corps with five bays subdivided by six grooved ionic columns, supporting a balustrade with six allegorical statues (Portunus, Thyche, Athena, Fama, Apollo, Abundantia). The building is occupied by the Trieste Port Authority. This is Slide 27 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Lumber, Lorries and Luck", about his service as Second Officer on board the Eskdalegate from 13 November 1976 to May 1977. The lecture consists of 45 slides.
