An head and shoulders portrait of the chief officer about to bite an apple on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) in Portsmouth Harbour. John Roundell Palmer, Lord Wolmer, a prominent fruit grower in Hampshire, presented a large supply of apples to the ship on behalf of the Apple and Pear Development Council. The photographer is on the port side of the deck just abaft the bridge looking forward and to port. The apples were produced by the Hants & Borders Growers Ltd. Negatives P50644 to P50655 were taken on the same occasion.
