Base for round box made from H.M.S. 'Victory'
Base for round wooden box, black lacquered. There are a gilt or brass lining and rim round the edge of the base interior. A silver plaque on the exterior of the base is inscribed: 'Made of wood from H.M.S. Victory on which I served and was severely wounded at the Battle of Trafalgar. This box was presented to me by my brother CAPT. G.A. WESTPHAL1815.' Some floral decorations are engraved in the text.
