A view of the shopfronts on Breedestraat in Willemstad, Curacao. The photographer is standing on the eastern side of the street looking south by south east towards the opposite side. The shop in the foreground has 23 metal beels fastened to the side of the building. The coat of arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is fastened to the building underneath the bells. The same shop bears the sign 'Spritzer & Fuhrmann'. The next two-story beige coloured building bears a 'Heineken' sign and a second sign reading 'Boekhandel Mensing'. There are two flagstaffs stationed halfway up the beige building. The third building is coloured grey and bears the sign '5 & 10 store John C Vinck'. The forth building is coloured brown and bears an orange sign that reads 'La Bonanza'. The next building in the background is coloured grey bearing a sign that is unreadable. The building in the far background is white. This is Slide 11 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Watchkeeping Officer for the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) owned by Commercial Cable Company of London from 31 July 1975 to 28 October 1975. This series consists of 17 slides.
