A float helicopter flying hovering above the helipad of the suction hopper dredger W.D. Gateway (1969) in the Beafort Sea. The photographer is standing on the port side of the bridge looking aft and to starboard. According to the photographer's autobiography, the helicopter had been sent to find W.D. Gateway due to a communications blackout to find the vessel waiting for an opening in the ice floes.
