Doble on the Medway off Rochester
A Medway doble of ca. 17-18ft is shown sailing in light wind on a port tack with the helmsman and three others on board. In the distance is Rochester Castle. The doble is rigged with a small jib and on the mast, which is raked slightly aft, a loose-footed spritsail, with the sprit's snotter about halfway down from the masthead. The view of the tiller and rudder indicates the doble's steeply raked canoe stern.
