The Stanhope entrance to Neptune Hall, National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London
Looking south-south-east at the ornate Stanhope entrance to Neptune Hall of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. The words National Maritime Museum are on a panel above the fluted stone arch a crown is carved above the left side of the arch and a foul anchor is carved above the right side. Inside the curve of the arch is the Royal Coat-of-arms. On either side of the entrance is a truck mounted cannon. The decorative cast iron gates are open to reveal a double leaf glazed wooden door. This is a masked copy negative made by the NMM Studio of a photographic print produced from negative number G5556 and the print has been retouched to add the words Stanhope Entrance and the museum's crest above the door.
