A protest flag stating No Grandi Navi
A protest flag stating 'No Grandi Navi'. Inside the 'O' of 'No', you can see a cruise ship in foreground and St Mark's Campanile, a famous landmark in Venice, in the background. The 'No Grandi Navi' campaign translates to 'No big ships' from Italian. It was a campaign started in 2012 with the aim to limit large cruise ships inside the Venice lagoon, specifically the damage that the ships were causing, run by a committee (Comitato No Grandi Navi).
This flag was hanging on a balcony in Venice for many years in support of the campaign. The donor also resides in London and used the graphic style of this flag to inspire the 'No OceanDiva' campaign in London (see ZBB0242).
