A flower box of Nelson's time on board the Victory (1765) at Portsmouth.

A lead-lined wooden box standing on the lower deck of the former ship-of-the-line Victory (1765) in Portsmouth Dockyard. In the Portsmouth Dockyard negative register the box is described as a "flower box of Nelson's time". It is viewed from slightly above one corner and is rectangular with a clawed foot in each corner. Each foot is fitted with a small castor. It has carrying handles at each end and each handle is a metal ring held in the mouth of a maned lion's head.
