The photographer is focussing on the Farnborough FIVH catapult and the Stothert & Pitt crane fitted on the quarterdeck. The catapult is trained athwartships but is still folded. The crane is slewed to port and the jib is raised. The aircraft carrier Courageous (1916), seen from fine off her port quarter, is berthed on Pitch House Jetty. The tug on the left is the Emprise (1899). The semaphore tower is in the background.
