The battlecruiser Hood (1918) and the aircraft carrier Courageous (1916) in Portsmouth Dockyard.
Looking aft from the roof of Y turret on board the battlecruiser Hood (1918) alongside Sheer Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard. The photographer is focussing on the Farnborough FIVH catapult and the Stothert & Pitt crane fitted on the quarterdeck. The catapult is trained athwartships but is still folded. The crane is slewed to port and the jib is raised. The aircraft carrier Courageous (1916), seen from fine off her port quarter, is berthed on Pitch House Jetty. The tug on the left is the Emprise (1899). The semaphore tower is in the background.
