The photographer is focussing on the Farnborough FIVH catapult and the Stothert & Pitt crane fitted on the quarterdeck. The catapult is trained athwartships and is fully unfolded. The crane is slewed to starboard and the jib is fully raised. The guns in Y turret are at maximum depression. Four seamen are painting the boot topping from a pontoon alongside the hull.
