A view of the launching platform at the head of No. 5 Slip, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the north side of the slip, during the launching ceremony of the light cruiser Aurora (1936). On the platform are the Reverend T Crick, Admiral Sir W W Fisher, Commander-in-Chief, and the ship's sponsor Lady Cecilia Fisher, who is receiving a bouquet presented by Miss Rosemary Turner, the daughter of Rear-Admiral R R Turner, the Admiral Superintendent of Portsmouth Dockyard. In the background is an enclosure for Sound and Film Operators.
