A view of the launching platform at the head of No. 5 Slip, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the north side of the slip, after the launch of the light cruiser Aurora (1936). On the platform are the Reverend T Crick, Miss Rosemary Turner, Admiral Sir W W Fisher, Commander-in-Chief, the ship's sponsor Lady Cecilia Fisher and Rear-Admiral R R Turner, the Admiral Superintendent of Portsmouth Dockyard. Lady Fisher is shaking hands with a man, possibly J C Joughin OBE who was the Manager, Constructive Department. In the background is an enclosure for Sound and Film Operators and a Royal Navy guard of honour.
