A starboard bow view of the partly submerged submarine L19 (1919) with Camels 1 and 4 afloat in No. 11 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the top of the dock on the south side. Men are on the camels while they are being prepared for positioning over the submarine to test the arrangements for salvaging her after explosive trials due to take place in July. The L19's conning tower is festooned with hoses. A crowd of onlookers are standing on the caisson and the dockside and ships in No. 2 Basin are in the background.
