Gun lifting arrangements on board a V & W class destroyer in No. 8 Dry Dock, Portsmouth, Hampshire
On board a V & W class destroyer in No. 8 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, looking forward from the quarterdeck. In the foreground is No. 4 gun, which is a Vickers 4-inch Mk. V. The gun is trained ahead of the port beam. A lifting strop is wrapped around the barrel of the gun and another is attached to the breech end, both strops being attached to a hoisting shackle and eye. A different style of lifting gear is attached to the barrel of No. 3 gun. Vertical format.
