Gun lifting arrangements on board a V & W class destroyer in No. 8 Dry Dock, Portsmouth, Hampshire
On board a V & W class destroyer in No. 8 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, looking to port from the starboard side of the quarterdeck close to the breech end of No. 4 gun, which is a Vickers 4-inch Mk. V. The gun is trained ahead of the port beam and the photographer is looking into the rear of the gun shield. A wire lifting strop is attached to the breech end of the gun, which is protected with sacking.
