Gun lifting arrangements on board the light cruiser Dunedin (1918) in No. 12 Dry Dock, Portsmouth, Hampshire
A starboard midship view of the light cruiser Dunedin (1918) in No. 12 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the west side of the dock. Only the area from the forefunnel to No. 4 6-inch gun is in the picture. Her starboard 4-inch QF Mk V gun on an HA Mk III mounting is being prepared for lifting. Shackled to the bottom of the breech of the gun is a heavy chain which is attached to a ratchet gear which is in turn hooked to a double wire leading to a fixing point on the upper deck abreast No. 4 6-inch gun. The Manager, Engineering Department Factory is in the background.
