On board the light cruiser Glasgow (1936) in Portsmouth Dockyard showing gun lifting arrangements. The photographer is looking aft and to starboard from near the base of the 2nd funnel at a tubular steel scaffold structure erected over the S1 twin 4 inch gun mounting. The right 4 inch QF Mk XVI gun has been pulled back in the hoist. Berthed outboard of the Glasgow (1936) is the gunnery training ship Iron Duke (1912). The Glasgow was in Portsmouth for repairs 29 Mar. - 10 May 1938.
