Gun lifting arrangements on board the light cruiser Glasgow (1936) in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
A close starboard midship detail of the light cruiser Glasgow (1936) in Portsmouth Dockyard showing a tubular steel scaffold structure erected over the Glasgow's S1 twin 4 inch gun mounting. The right 4 inch QF Mk XVI gun has been pulled back in the hoist. The photographer is on board the gunnery training ship Iron Duke (1912), which is berthed outboard of the Glasgow (1936), and is looking to port and slightly aft from just ahead of the S1 mounting. The Glasgow (1936) was in Portsmouth for repairs 29 Mar. - 10 May 1938.
