The battleship Queen Elizabeth (1940) in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire

A port side view, taken from abaft the beam, of the after part of the battleship Queen Elizabeth (1913) undergoing reconstruction alongside the promontory under the 250 ton hammerhead crane in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard. Everything forward of B turret is out of the picture. Canvas is draped over a line running from her bridge face to the front of A turret and between her after turrets to break up her outline. Her hull is camouflaged with painting resembling a viaduct with buildings between the supports. Her upperworks and turrets are painted in a disruptive pattern. A destroyer and the special service vessel Cape Howe (1930) are in the right background.
