The minesweeping escort sloop Bideford (1931) in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
A starboard quarter view, taken from the quayside fine off the stern, of the badly damaged minesweeping escort sloop Bideford (1931) in Portsmouth Dockyard, possibly in No. 3 Basin. Her stern was hit by a bomb off Dunkirk on 29 May 1940. Her quarterdeck and minesweeping winch are canted down and parts of her hull and deck plating have been peeled back by the blast. All of her boats are missing from their davits. A diving boat is alongside with a diver standing by. Berthed outboard is the Hunt class Alresford (1919).
