The minesweeping escort sloop Bideford (1931) in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
A close view of the damaged stern, looking across the ship from starboard to port from the quayside, of the minesweeping escort sloop Bideford (1931) in Portsmouth Dockyard, possibly in No. 3 Basin. Her stern was hit by a bomb off Dunkirk on 29 May 1940. Her quarterdeck and minesweeping winch are canted down and parts of her hull and deck plating have been peeled back by the blast. A diving boat is alongside with a diver standing by and berthed outboard is the Hunt class Alresford (1919).
