A close detail of the bottom of the hull of the destroyer Boadicea (1930) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the bottom of the dock close to the keel blocks under the starboard side of the hull looking aft. The bottom plating between stations 97 and 103 has been blown out where a bomb exploded in the engine room and killed all of the engine room personnel bar one. In the top left is the main water circulating inlet to No. 2 boiler room. The bombing occurred off the French coast near Fecamp on 10 Jun. 1940 and the Boadicea was towed to Dover and then on to Portsmouth.
