Bomb damage to the destroyer Witherington (1919) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire

A close-view of the entry hole of a bomb in the port side of the upper deck, above the after boiler room at station 69-70, on the destroyer Witherington (1919), taken in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard. She was hit the three bombs while alongside a jetty at Portsmouth on the night of 10-11 Mar. 1941 and had to be beached on a mud bank. She was refloated and dry docked for repairs and conversion to short range escort.
