Bomb damage to the destroyer Witherington (1919) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire

A close-up of the port side of the destroyer Witherington (1919) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, showing the badly damaged hull and bilge keel between stations 77 and 85 in way of the after boiler room, taken from the top of the dock. She was hit the three bombs while alongside a jetty at Portsmouth on the night of 10-11 Mar. 1941 and had to be beached on a mud bank. She was refloated and dry docked for repairs and conversion to short range escort.
