A close-up of the ship's bottom on the port side of the destroyer Witherington (1919) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, showing a bomb exit hole at station 71, taken from the bottom of the dock close to the keel blocks. This bomb exploded on the seabed under the ship. She was hit the three bombs while alongside a jetty at Portsmouth on the night of 10-11 Mar. 1941 and had to be beached on a mud bank. She was refloated and dry docked for repairs and conversion to short range escort.
