Bomb damage to the destroyer Witherington (1919) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire

A close-up of the lower part of the ship's hull on the port side of the destroyer Witherington (1919) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, showing the deformed hull aft between stations 129 and 136 in way of an oil fuel tank, taken from the side of the dock. She was hit the three bombs while alongside a jetty at Portsmouth on the night of 10-11 Mar. 1941 and had to be beached on a mud bank. She was refloated and dry docked for repairs and conversion to short range escort.
