A Rapier 6-wheeled mobile crane overturned in the Propeller Pound near No. 13 Dry Dock in Portsmouth Dockyard. It has fallen on its left side and the photographer is looking from its rear along the jib. Berthed on the Promontory in No. 3 Basin in the background is the armed merchant cruiser Ausonia (1921) beginning conversion to a fleet repair ship. In the right background is the former passenger liner Antonia (1921) completing conversion to a depot ship, being commissioned as the Wayland 19 Aug. 1942.
