A close detail of the foot of one of the support legs to the 10-ton travelling spider crane situated between No. 9 Dry Dock and A Lock, No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard. The flat wheels are resting on a temporary curved steel plate and not within a track. The chassis does not seem to have any flanged wheels. A number of workmen are hauling an a geared chain purchase. The Battery House between A and B Locks is in the background.
