A steel box model suspended over the wall on the south side of No. 3 Basin in Portsmouth Dockyard. The square box has a rectangular centre panel securely bolted to the main box. A small device is suspended over the centre of the panel and is held in position by a horizontal wire. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P1/43 is written on the negative over the bottom left corner of the box.
