The outer bottom plating of the light cruiser Hawke on No. 5 Slip in Portsmouth Dockyard, looking forward and to starboard from station 88. The outer bottom plates have been drilled out but no riveting has yet been done, all plates and frames being bolted into position. The third longitudinal is in the left foreground and the starboard frame 86 between the third and fourth longitudinals is in position. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P88/43 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative.
