Working on the light cruiser Achilles (1932) in No. 14 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire.

A starboard side view, taken from just abaft the beam, of the funnel and bridge of the light cruiser Achilles (1932) which is in No. 14 Dry Dock in Portsmouth Dockyard. The tripod foremast and the bridge are surrounded by scaffolding. New blast screens for the twin 4 inch guns have been fitted on the forecastle deck abreast the funnel. Her directors have been removed from the bridge. The photographer is on the roof of an air raid shelter. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P186/43 has been written near the bottom left corner of the negative.
