Testing paints on the destroyer Porcupine (1941) in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire.

A close port broadside view of the afterpart of B gun deck and the forward part of the bridge of the destroyer Porcupine (1941) alongside the jetty on No. 3 Basin between Nos 13 and 14 Dry Docks in Portsmouth Dockyard. Various parts of the structure have been painted in different formulae of paint. What appears to be A C Formula L1780L A.1 G45 can be seen on the dark paint under B gun deck. A locker labelled Washdeck Locker No. 4 is on the forecastle deck on the right of the picture. The photographer is standing on the stern section of the ship which is berthed alongside the forward section. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P217/43 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative.
