A close up view of the port side of the 48 feet diameter drum being fitted on board the former hopper barge W24 (Persephone) (1938), looking to starboard and aft from the quay on the south side of the promontory in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard. The drum is to lay Hammel cable pipe under the sea. This vessel was named Persephone at some time during the conversion.
