A Phoenix unit under construction in C Lock, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire

A Phoenix reinforced concrete caisson under construction in C Lock, Portsmouth Dockyard. The main 'hull' of the unit is complete and the construction of the 'superstructure' is well under way. The lock is flooded and the photographer is looking south-east from the north side of the east end of the lock. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P17/44 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative.
