Shipwrights fitting a large steel construction in the tank deck of a Mark 5 tank landing craft in No. 2 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from off her starboard side abreast the bow looking aft and to port. Small square plates on board look like armour plates. Berthed outboard of her is a hopper barge. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P28/44 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative and the description given in this register is "fitting of heavy ramps for tanks". The ship may be LCT(5) 2240.
