Shipwrights fitting a large steel construction in the tank deck of a Mark 5 tank landing craft in No. 2 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from on board her port side forward looking aft and to starboard. Small square plates that look like armour plates are being fitted to the outside faces of the new steelwork. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P30/44 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative and the description given in this register is "fitting of heavy ramps for tanks". The ship may be LCT (5) 2240.
