Shipwrights fitting armour plates to a large steel construction in the tank deck of a Mark 5 tank landing craft in No. 2 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from on board her port side looking forward and to starboard from the port side rear of her tank deck. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P31/44 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative and the description given in this register is "fitting of heavy ramps for tanks". The ship may be LCT (5) 2240.
